#Loogfest Recap: Watch Daniel Donato and Caspar Babypants

#Loogfest Recap: Watch Daniel Donato and Caspar Babypants

Whew! What a weekend we had! As you all know, we launched Loog Fest, an online festival for kids and families, a week ago as a way to do something during these crazy times. Something to help artists work and something that families could enjoy at home, together, for free.

Well, our first Loog Fest opening weekend happened and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how our first two acts represented the festival’s purpose. And don’t be bummed if you missed it this weekend or if it went by too quickly: of course we have video highlights to relive and share!

Watch: "Sweet Tasting Tennessee" - Daniel Donato and Sister Naomi Jam Live

Daniel Donato, live from his home in Nashville, actually took advantage of his live performance to teach his 9 year-old sister Naomi to play her Loog Guitar. Both ended up jamming to an adorable rendition of “Sweet Tasting Tennessee” that was just too good to let slip into the past. Here’s that moment plus a couple more from the broadcast’s grand finale:

Watch: Caspar Babypants (aka Chris Ballew) Answers Your Questions

Sunday was Caspar Babypants’ (aka Chris Ballew) time to shine with a sweet Q&A session that kept us entertained for almost 50 minutes straight (that’s just how cool he is). We actually decided to leave everything in - it was just too hard to pick highlights. So here he is again in all of his glory, as he talks about his new album "Bug Out!", making the switch from Presidents of the United States of America to kids' music, inspiration for songs, exclamation marks, how many yellow t-shirts he owns and more. A must-see for whenever you have a little time:

#LoogFest Weekend 2: From Electronic Music to Bass Guitar Legends

Next Saturday and Sunday, join us at Loog Fest to tackle the physics of electronic music and watch an exclusive interview with a bonafide bass guitar legend. All you have to do is show up to our Instagram

Saturday, May 9, 5:30 PM EST - Rebecca Feynberg: “Beats with Becca”

Rebecca Feynberg on Loog Fest

How do we even begin to describe Rebecca? Music producer, songwriter, researcher and audio preservation engineer, involved in littleBits Electronics, taught at NYU, Hofstra University and Ramapo College of NJ and today is focused on teaching kids about music. She also performs her original electronic music in NY and also sometimes sings in a 1920s jazz band. AND she’s also super cool!

Apart from gifting us some of her own beats, Becca will be exploring the science of sound and electronic music, as well as how synthesizers work, the physics of sound, drum machines, audio effects, MIDI and recording music for free using Soundtrap. And guess what? This act is also suitable for kids - she's THAT good.

Sunday, May 10, 4:00 PM EST - Exclusive Interview with Darryl Jones

Darryl Jones on Loog Fest

Miles Davies, Sting, Madonna, The Rolling Stones… Darryl Jones has played bass for everyone since he was very, very young. Join us in this interview with one of Loog Guitars’ heroes, who’s not only a bass guitar god but also designs and creates his own line of musical instruments (Jones Musical Instruments). He’s also frontman of The Darryl Jones Project and a huge supporter of expanding availability to music education.

In short, we are huge fans. So please come see us geek out at our first attempt of an interview. Who knows? You might catch some funny stuff among all of Darryl’s sheer wisdom.

And remember: the Loog group live beginner classes are still going on every Saturday, right on Lessonface! You can enroll for this Saturday in this link right over here

Looking forward to an amazing weekend - can’t wait to see and talk to you all there!
